Contractor Efforts 2023

Contractor Efforts:

•Removed Junipers along Keystone Dr…a primary evacuation route

•Reduce significant Dwarf Mistletoe infestation

    •Removed very infected Ponderosa Pine Trees 

    •Removed Branches from less infected Pine Trees

    •Removed trees that had already died 

•Removed (the very) flammable Junipers

•Thinned out trees too crowded for healthy growth

•These efforts also help protect the surrounding Homeowner and Open Space properties

Prouty Dr and Solitude Ln - backstory

In a previous year, peeling bark off tree confirmed active tree-killing Mountain Pine Beetle Infestation Ponderosa Trees weakened by Dwarf Mistletoe, dense tree crowding and drought have increased probability of being infected by Pine Beetles.

Plans were made to address this area.

Virtually all Ponderosa Pines here had significant Dwarf Mistletoe Infestation, some trees were already dead. This required removing most all the infected trees

The hillside was seeded and  a long-term recovery plan was developed.
